Frequently Asked Questions about Residential Cleaning

How do you determine what to charge for cleaning my home or apartment?
Our cost is based on an hourly rate. We can discuss that when you contact us.
How many people are on a Team?
There are either 2 or 3 people on a Team, depending on how many clients are scheduled on a given day.
Does the same Team do the cleaning each time?
Yes, unless we need to reschedule a cleaning to a different day or for unforeseen circumstances.
Does someone have to be home when the Team arrives? Does someone have to stay while they are cleaning?
Most clients are not home when we arrive or while we are cleaning; however, arrangements are made based on client preference and convenience. Typically, we enter the house using a client- provided key or a garage code.
Should I do anything before the Team arrives?
If the house is relatively organized and picked up, the Team is able to focus on cleaning, rather than straightening up.
Do I have to secure my pets before you arrive?
If your dogs and cats are friendly, they do not need to be crated or put in a closed-off room. We do need know ahead of time if they will try to “escape” when we arrive so we can avoid that occurring. We can discuss any special instructions for pets once we get started.
What do you do if the Team can't get in my house or office for some reason?
We will try to contact you to see if you can have someone open the house for us. In the event that this is not possible, the cleaning may have to be rescheduled. We do not charge a “lock out” fee unless it happens often.
What do you do when we go on vacation?
We try to reschedule or just skip your cleaning and catch up on the next cycle, based on your preference.
Am I covered if something is broken?
Yes, we have insurance for broken or damaged items.
Am I covered if someone gets hurt?
Yes, we have liability insurance for injuries.
What kind of cleaning supplies do you use?
We mostly use environmentally friendly products from a company called Enviro Solutions. We also use some products that can be purchased at most home stores. We do not use any abrasive products, ammonia- based products or bleach. We do use Tilex for mold and mildew only.
Is the initial cleaning or a one-time cleaning more expensive then a regular cleaning?
Yes, typically a one-time or first-time cleaning will be 30%-40% more expensive. The reason the initial cleaning cost is higher is because of the extra time required to do this cleaning.
Do you do deep cleaning or is it all surface cleaning?
That depends on your definition of deep cleaning. Pulling out heavy furniture, window cleaning, cleaning inside ovens and refrigerators are not part of a regular cleaning. What we do is focus on providing a consistent quality cleaning each time. We have the Dirt Doctors Detail Cleaning System – Details like baseboards and cobweb removal, for example, get done on a rotational basis. We also offer our Spring Cleaning System, where we do a more thorough cleaning and can provide additional services, such as cleaning windows, ovens and inside of refrigerators that are not part of our standard services.
Do you clean windows?
We can clean the inside of windows upon request. We also recommend window cleaning companies for large jobs and/or outside windows
Do you clean carpets?
No, but again we can recommend quality carpet cleaners.
Do you do special requests?
Yes, with a one – two week notice, we can schedule special requests. If it is something we cannot do, we can give recommendations of companies that do that type of cleaning.
What if I'm not satisfied?
We can either return to fix the problem or give you a discount on your next cleaning.
